Catholic Church Inundated with Sexual Abuse Allegations

In 2010 Pope Benedict XVI accepted the resignation of an Irish bishop over his handling of child abuse cases since 1995 and the German government set up a special panel to look into sexual abuse allegations in the Catholic Church and elsewhere.

Allegations of abuse continue to flood church offices and help groups in Germany.  A number of task forces have already been set up where victims of physical and sexual abuse at the hands of Catholic priests can tell their stories and ask for help. Now the German government has set up an expert panel and the Bishop's Conference in Germany has announced a special papal aide hot line which starts operations the end of this month.

Munich lies in the heartland of Germany's Catholics.  It's here that Pope Benedict, formerly Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, was archbishop in the 1980's.  And, many of the alleged abuses occurred during that time.  In one case now being examined, a priest alleged to have abused students was transferred to Munich from another diocese.  Questions have been raised about what Cardinal Ratzinger may have known about this.

The sexual abuse is much more reported in developing countries; especially African countries but no information in media because they fear to miss humanitarian assistance they receive from this church, and also they think that, it is the shame for them when people will come to know that they have raped.

Australian Catholic Church admits child abuse

Australia's Roman Catholic Church has confirmed that more than 600 children have been sexually abused by its priests since the 1930s in the state of Victoria.
The archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart, described the figures as "horrific and shameful".
The admission came in a submission to a state parliamentary inquiry into the handling of abuse cases, however campaigners say the true figure could be up to 10,000 victims.
The church said the 620 cases went back 80 years with the majority taking place between the 1960s and the 1980s, with another 45 cases being investigated.
In a statement, Archbishop Hart said it was important to be open "about the horrific abuse that has occurred in Victoria and elsewhere".

Canadian Premier Harper skips UN General Assembly to get Jewish award

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has come under fire for skipping the 67th session of the UN General Assembly to attend a private ceremony where he received an award from a Jewish-sponsored organization.
Passing up the opportunity to address the General Assembly, Harper chose to receive the New York-based Appeal of Conscience Foundation (ACF) award from former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on Thursday.
The Canadian official seized the opportunity to level criticism at the UN and accused its members of using the world body as a “forum to single out Israel for criticism.”

Harper further added that the policies of the Israeli regime are not to blame for “the pathologies present in that part of the world,” while reaffirming Canada’s support for Tel Aviv.

However, the Canadian prime minister’s decision not to speak at the opening of the General Assembly drew harsh criticism in Canada from opposition leaders, who called the move “absolutely ridiculous.”

The Syrian army has killed a number of insurgent leaders in the flashpoint city of Aleppo as the mop-up operation to clear the northern city of armed groups continues.

The insurgent leaders were killed after Syrian troops attacked a terrorist command center in the Bab neighborhood on Friday.

Heavy clashes, however, continue between government forces and foreign-backed insurgents in other parts of Aleppo. Armed groups fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have vowed to step up their attacks in Aleppo in coming days.

Earlier, at least four civilians, including two children, were killed in a terrorist mortar attack in the city.
Syrian troops have also killed a number of insurgents in the western city of Homs. In the capital Damascus, armed groups shelled a mosque, damaging parts of its minaret, but there were no reports of casualties.

Morsi condemns Israel war rhetoric against Iran, refusal to join NPT

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has warned Israel over its saber-rattling against Iran and Tel Aviv’s obstructionism against the realization of a nuclear-free Middle East.

The Middle East "no longer tolerates" any country's refusal to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), "especially if this is coupled with irresponsible policies or arbitrary threats," Morsi said in his address at the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

The Egyptian leader was making reference to Israel’s policy of ambiguity about its military nuclear activities, which has helped it procure the Mideast’s only nuclear arsenal.

Israel has recently stepped up its threats to strike Iran’s nuclear energy facilities, while the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute believes Tel Aviv possesses 300 to 400 nuclear warheads, 80 of which remain in high operational alert, that is, they are ready to fire.

Iran is a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), thus it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
Morsi said the concept of a preemptive strike against a country must be confronted.
"The acceptance by the international community of the principle of pre-emptiveness or the attempt to legitimize it is in itself a serious matter and must be firmly confronted to avoid the prevalence of the law of the jungle," he stated.

The Egyptian president also referred to the continued occupation of Palestinian territories, and highlighted the Palestinian cause as “the first issue which the world must exert all its efforts in resolving, on the basis of justice and dignity.”

Morsi criticized Israel’s refusal to abide by UN resolutions and condemned its continued settlement expansions on occupied Palestinian land as “disgraceful.”

"It is shameful that the free world accepts, regardless of the justifications provided, that a member of the international community continues to deny the rights of a nation that has been longing for decades for independence," he said.

Syrian forces kill 100 Afghan insurgents in Aleppo

Syrian security forces have killed up to 100 Afghan insurgents in the northwestern city of Aleppo over the past two days, Press TV reports.

On Thursday, the Syrian forces also arrested about 100 armed men near the capital, Damascus.

Many insurgents were killed during clashes with the Syrian troops in Aleppo’s Maysaloon district on Wednesday. The Syrian army also seized large amounts of weapons and ammunition, including Israel-made bombs.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011.

Damascus says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the insurgents are foreign nationals.

Also on Thursday, the foreign-sponsored insurgents downed a Syrian military helicopter in the town of Douma, east of Damascus, and killed the crew of the helicopter in an execution-style shooting.

Iran's future is bright despite Western propaganda: Leader

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says Iran is on track for a bright future despite Western propaganda.

“Thanks to Islamic Awakening, since the past 33 years, our beloved Iran and our great nation have been treading a glorious path to a bright ending,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in an address to the members of the country’s armed forces and their families in the northern city of Noshahr on Tuesday night.

The Leader also noted that the Iranian nation will disregard the enemies’ propaganda that aims to portray a bleak picture of the situation in the country.
He censured the United States for its increasing pressure on some nations.

“Nowadays, [the governments of] some countries, where revolutions have taken place, have to take some positions under US pressure. On the contrary, the authorities of the Islamic Republic have withstood such pressures during the past 33 years,” the Leader stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that “the Islamic Republic does not yield to any superpowers and takes decisions in the interest of the country and its nation, even if all of the world’s superpowers are infuriated at these decisions.”

Israel fingerprints all over 9/11 attacks: US lawmaker

A member of the US House of Representatives says there is numerous evidence proving that the Israeli regime had a major role in the 9/11 attacks.

“We don’t have all the facts and figures of the direct involvement in the attack itself, but we do have lots of fingerprints of the Israelis all over this situation, covering it up and also not informing America of this … disaster,” David Duke said in an interview with us.
“There’s a huge amount of evidence that indicates that Israel, at the very least, knew what was going on way ahead of time,” but did not warn the US, Duke added, describing it as “a tremendous treachery” against the US.
He said that Israel had a long record of terrorism against the US, adding there are a lot of reasons as to why Israel had a major role in the incident.
He said that five Israeli Mossad agents were arrested in New York while they were filming and documenting the attack not to mention that there is also a lot of evidence indicating that Israel had a huge spy operation going on in the United States at this time.
Duke pointed out that Israel certainly gained tremendous benefits from the attack so it certainly had a role in the incident.
“Obviously, they’ve benefitted tremendously from the attack. It really cut off the huge growing criticism of Israel. There are more and more nations that were recognizing the Palestinian state. Everything got short circuited,” he said.

KUWAIT DEMONSTRATORS DEMANDING DEMOCRACY

Over 3,000 demonstrators gathered in Determination Square of Kuwait City opposite the parliament late Monday.
The event was organized by an umbrella group of Islamic and youth activists despite a ban by the government.
The protesters also called for more democracy and changes in the country’s electoral law.
About 21 lawmakers from the dissolved parliament also attended the demonstration.
Lawmaker Walid al-Tabtabaie said in an address to the protesters, “We have decided as people that (Prime Minister) Jaber al-Mubarak (al-Sabah) will be the last prime minister” from the ruling family.
Tabtabaie also stated that the ruling family can be “the emirs but the ministers will be from among us.”
The Kuwaiti government has been dominated by the al-Sabah family members without any challenge since the dynasty began ruling the Persian Gulf state about 250 years ago.
“Our problem is with the members of the family who must be kept away from ministerial positions. There must be a law that organizes the work of the ruling family,” said Khaled Shakheer, a former Kuwaiti MP who attended the demonstration.
“I will come to the Determination Square with the people until our demands are met.”
In June, Kuwait’s constitutional court dissolved the opposition-dominated parliament and reinstated the former pro-government parliament.

THE SPEECH BY AYATULLAH KHOMENEI ABOUT US ANTI-ISLAM MOVIE

‘US, Zionists prime anti-Islam suspects’.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has slammed the antagonistic policies of Zionism and the US as the root cause of the recent production of an American movie desecrating Prophet
Mohammad (PBUH).
Ayatollah Khamenei issued a message on Thursday following the anti-Islam move. The full text of the message follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent. Dear Iranian nation; the great Islamic Ummah.
The filthy hand of the enemies of Islam once again revealed its deep-rooted malice by insulting the Grand Prophet [Mohammad] (PBUH) and with an insane and deplorable measure showed the fury of the evil Zionists at the daily-increasing radiance of Islam and Holy Qur’an in the present world.

Regarding the disgrace of the agents of this crime and great sin it suffices to say that they have targeted the most sacred and luminous figure among the world sanctities with their disgusting nonsense. Behind this evil move lie the antagonistic policies of the Zionists and the US and other heads of the global arrogance, who in their vain delusions want to knock down Islamic sanctities from their lofty position in the eyes of the young generations in the world of Islam and to extinguish their religious sentiments.

Had they not backed the previous links in this evil chain, namely Salman Rushdie, the Danish cartoonist, and the US pastors who burned the Holy Qur’an and had they not made orders for [production of] tens of anti-Islam movies to companies affiliated to the Zionist capitalists, things would not have lead to this great and unforgivable sin today.

"The prime suspects in this crime are Zionism and the US government. If the US politicians are honest in their claim of not being involved [in production of this film], [they] must bring the perpetrators of this hideous crime and their financial backers, who have wrenched the hearts of Muslim nations, to face a punishment proportionate to this great crime."

Muslim brothers and sisters must know that this desperate move by the enemies in the wake of the Islamic Awakening is a sign of the grandeur and importance of this uprising and heralds its increasing growth.

West accepts terrorism when it’s politically expedient – Russian FM

Western nations accept acts of terrorism when it suits them politically, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. Lavrov was commenting on a refusal by Western members of the UN Security Council to condemn recent attacks in Syria. The Security Council has always resolved that terrorism is unacceptable, Lavrov said. But for the first time, Western member-states deviated from this position after a bombing in Damascus killed several senior security officials, he said.
According to Western nations, the bombing did not qualify as terrorism since the victims were the heads of power structures fighting against insurgents, Lavrov said, claiming he was dumbfounded by such an explanation.
Lavrov urged other members of the Security Council to condemn not only the Sunday bombing in the conflict-wracked Syrian city of Aleppo, which killed 27 people and wounded dozens, “but also a series of terrorist attacks that happened the same day in Iraq.”
“Our partners took a break – apparently, they were seeking advice from their capitals – and refused from any kind of reaction,” Lavrov said.
The silence of Western countries on the attack could indicate that their countries have changed their stance on terrorism, he said. “I’d be really glad if our partners refuted my suspicion,” Interfax cited Lavrov as saying.
Another senior Russian diplomat, deputy FM Gennady Gatilov, also accused Western nations of double standards over their refusal to condemn the Syrian terrorist attacks. “So there are ‘bad’ terrorists who should be condemned and those whose actions can go without a reaction from the international community,” he wrote on Twitter.
Earlier this week, Russia failed to secure a UN Security Council draft statement condemning the spate of September 9 attacks in Aleppo, which killed some 50 people and injured over 100.
The draft statement was circulated among Security Council members on September 10, along with a similar document on bombings in several Iraqi cities, Itar-Tass reported.
The statements said that "terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security and is unjustifiable."
Russia managed to secure agreement only for the document on the terrorist attacks in Iraq.

Romney’s remarks validate Moscow’s stance on missile defense - Putin

Vladimir Putin said that Mitt Romney's remarks on Russia, which he dubbed America’s “number-one geopolitical foe,” have validated Moscow’s stance towards the US missile defense program. "[Romney] has again confirmed the correctness of our position on missile defense problems,” Putin told reporters after a meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic. "It's not just us that he has convinced of this but, I think, the international community and our European partners as well.”
Romney's statements "serve to bolster our positions in negotiations on this sensitive issue," the Russian leader said.
"What is most important for us is that even if Romney does not win these elections, he or a man with similar views could come to power in four years, and we should bear this in mind by planning our security according to a long historical perspective," Putin noted.
Moscow, which believes the system represents a national security threat, has warned on numerous occasions that the project could spark “another arms race” without Russia’s full participation.
The US and NATO have declined Moscow’s requests for assurances that the system would not be directed against Russia.
In weighing the comments made by President Barack Obama’s main challenger in the November elections, Putin described the “negative aspects” of Romney’s statements, while also saying that this proved him to be a “sincere man.”
"Every situation has its positive and negative aspects,” he added.
“That Mr. Romney considers us enemy number-one and apparently has bad feelings about Russia is a minus, but, considering that he expresses himself bluntly, openly and clearly, means that he is an open and sincere man, which is a plus."
"We will be oriented toward pluses, not minuses,” Putin said. “And I am actually very grateful to him for formulating his position in a straightforward manner."
He reiterated that he would be willing to work with Romney if he becomes the next US president.
"Despite the fact that Mr. Romney considers Russia enemy number-one, if he is elected president of the US, certainly we – myself included – will work with him as an elected head of state," he said.
In an effort to win votes, Romney is blasting Obama as a leader who weakened the US by signing an arms reduction treaty with Russia, and by agreeing to a comprehensive diplomatic ‘reset’ between the two countries.
During his nomination speech at the Republican National Convention, Romney referred to a ‘hot mic’ gaffe between Obama and then-President Dmitry Medvedev, in which the US leader said he would have “more flexibility” to work with Moscow after the elections.
Obama “is eager to give Russia's President Putin the flexibility he desires after the election. Under my presidency our friends will see more loyalty and Mr. Putin will see a little less flexibility and more backbone,” Romney said.
Putin concluded by noting that Romney's heated remarks against Russia may be “related in large part to election rhetoric.”
Nevertheless, he warned that, apart from the rhetoric, “the situation is such."
It remains to be seen how the US-Russia reset would be affected by a Romney victory in November, given an election-year atmosphere in Washington that has seen a high level of anti-Russian rhetoric.

US dispatches destroyers, marine unit to Libya

The US navy has dispatched two guided missile destroyers and a 50-member marine unit to the Libyan coast.
A senior US official, whose name was not mentioned in the report, said on Wednesday that the USS Laboon and the USS McFaul “are going to be in the vicinity of Libya but only as a precautionary measure.”

On September 11, US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three staff members of the US consulate were killed in an attack on the consulate building in the city of Benghazi.
The US consulate incident took place after a group of people held a demonstration against an anti-Islam movie produced in the United States.

Outrage is growing across the Muslim world over the $5-million movie that was financed by more than 100 Jews.

Bahraini regime uses UK-made spy software to crush dissent

A British surveillance software company called Gamma International has supplied the Bahraini regime with spy software that has been used against pro-democracy protesters.

Pro-democracy protesters across the Middle East and North Africa have turned to social sites like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Skype since two years ago to communicate with each other and with the outside world.
This prompted dictatorial regimes hit by growing wave of pro-democracy movements to do everything to infiltrate the movements, hack their members’ internet accounts and spy on them in their attempt to silence dissent.
The Bahraini regime sent emails to activists and human rights defenders which contained attachments and those attachments were pieces of malware - software secretly installed on the activists’ computers and designed to spy on them.
The attachments sent to activists were analysed by researchers at the University of Toronto.

They found that the attachments were made by the UK-based firm - Gamma International, and the product was called FinFisher.
“The way that we've seen the tool deployed is through emails that contain attachments, an encouragement by the sender of the email to open the attachment. The attachment is actually of course a Trojan”, said one of the researchers.
“So they are used to steal documents, they are used to steal email credentials, intercept instant messaging. They are used to steal Facebook credentials, Twitter credentials. Used also for intercepting Skype calls”, the researcher added.
They found through more investigations that FinSpy could also take control of mobile devices in the form of FinSpy Mobile.
“It gives whoever's operating it the ability to enable your phone's microphone, look at your phone's GPS and locating system and generally record all the other activity that you do on the device”, the University of Toronto researchers said.
“So FinSpy would allow someone remotely to turn your mobile phone into a bugging device capable of listening in on any conversation or meeting you have”, they added.

This is not the first time Gamma International has come under scrutiny. Last year, Egyptian human rights activists found documents linking the company to the Mubarak regime when they broke into the State Security Investigations Service headquarters.

Iran, only state to ensure Persian Gulf security: Iran cmdr.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Ali Fadavi says Iran is the only state capable of guaranteeing security in the Persian Gulf.

“Iran is the only power capable of establishing security in the Persian Gulf, [its key oil shipment lane] Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East, and the world has gradually come to know this,” Fadavi said on Monday.

“Security in this region is needed not only by the [countries located in the] region, but also by many countries across the globe,” he added.
The admiral went on to accuse the United States of stirring insecurity in the Persian Gulf. “Statistics show that since the beginning of the [military] presence of Americans [in the Persian Gulf], security has not improved, but has even worsened on a daily basis.”

Highlighting Iran's role in the global security, the commander said “Although the US pretends to be the source of security in the region, it is [actually] the cause of insecurity.”

The commander noted that the Persian Gulf will become an exclusive route for the global oil and gas supply in the near future, adding, “While throughout the [1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed] war, only nine million barrels per day (bpd) of oil was exported from the Persian Gulf, the figure now stands at 19 million bpd and will reach 35-40 million bpd by 2020.”

Last month, the Iranian Armed Forces deputy chief of staff, Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri, said the US military presence in the Persian Gulf posed a threat to security of shipping through the strategic waterway.
He urged the Persian Gulf littoral states to make efforts to establish complete security for shipping lines in the Persian Gulf.

Towards breaking West’s power monopoly

By Ismail Salami
It is time the US stopped playing the guru, and thinking and making decisions for other countries. As a first step, the NAM member states should make efforts to liberate the UN Security Council from its servile captivity to the US and its allies."
Despite the West's deliberate inattention to and willful disregard for Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran, there is no denying the fact that the summit has occasioned extreme chagrin in Washington and Israel and that dialogue among civilizations in achieving global peace is still a powerful feasibility.

Just a day prior to the inauguration of the NAM summit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his typical cynicism and slammed the attendance of high-profile representatives from more than 120 countries at the summit, saying it was "a stain on humanity." The cause of Netanyahu's desperate anger is however quite perceptible.

The 16th NAM Summit which was officially wrapped up in Tehran on Friday concluded a resolution including over 700 clauses. The final resolution which was read out by Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad expressed support for Iran’s nuclear energy program, rejected the US unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic, and called for greater efforts to champion the Palestinian cause and stop racial discrimination across the world.

The NAM summit addressed a number of thorny issues which the West misrepresents such as Iran’s nuclear energy program or underrates such as the Palestinian issue and the unauthorized US drone attacks which have so far claimed the lives of many civilians in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and Yemen.

As an opportunity for the attendees to voice their grievances which have already gripped their nations by the neck, Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar expressed her country’s concern over the illegal drone attacks in Pakistan and urged Washington to immediately put an end to their killing machine in Pakistan.

“You see Pakistan’s position is clear today and has been clear in the past. Our position is that this is something which is counter-productive. It is unlawful. It is illegal, and therefore they must cease. This is what the parliament of Pakistan has clearly said,” Rabbani Khar said on Wednesday.

However, central to the summit was a pithy speech delivered by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in which he clearly reiterated the official stance of the Islamic Republic on some key issues including nuclear weapons and clarified that Iran has never sought to produce nuclear weapons, will never tread on such a horrendous path and that the pursuance, use and production of such weapons is an unforgivable sin. His deep analysis of Washington's paradoxical policy deserves due attention. Pointing to "a bitter irony of our era", Ayatollah Khamenei reinforced the fact that the US government "possesses the largest and deadliest stockpiles of nuclear arms and other weapons of mass destruction and the only country guilty of its use, is today eager to carry the banner of opposition to nuclear proliferation" and that the same regime has armed the usurping Zionist regime with nuclear weapons and created a major threat for this sensitive region."

In fact, Washington and Tel Aviv are playing in the hands of the devil in their efforts to divide nations and colonize their countries by creating ‘global enemies’ and ruthlessly mobilizing others against them.

In this regard, the NAM Summit can play a vital role in diverting the destructive role of the US government and other bullying powers in pushing ahead with their globalist agendas to a constructive role under the aegis of the NAM members. In countering the effects of a summit of such substantial significance, western media blacked out on truth and refrained from reporting the facts which in one way or another showed their hidden agenda. The media blackout in the West concerning the Summit in Tehran is well tantamount to the blackout of truth and faith, a morbid sign which clearly indicates why global efforts in achieving peace and harmony are eventually pushed into the abyss of failure. In order to shatter the stranglehold of media mafia, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarghami has suggested the Non-Aligned Movement set up an alternative media bloc. Such an initiative is indeed commendable and is to be considered an efficacious means to counterbalance the media blind bias.

With full conviction, one can sadly say that there are sabotaging hands at work to thwart efforts in striving for global peace in the light of a united leadership. What actually should top the NAM summit in future is to formulate an effective approach in resolving global crisis and struggle to attain an international consensus to reduce Washington’s political influence and self-acclaimed dictatorial leadership. It is time the US stopped playing the guru, and thinking and making decisions for other countries. As a first step, the NAM member states should make efforts to liberate the UN Security Council from its servile captivity to the US and its allies.

A new world order is taking shape. In this new world order, imperialism starts to vanish and the idea of mounting military expeditions under the banner of combating terrorism or dictating western democracy soon evaporates. This idea may be a far cry from the reality but it is not an impossibility. It can be turned into a reality thanks to the power issuing from the collective efforts of all nations. This is exactly what the US-led West fears most and what the world needs most: a united nations will to fly in the face of the wrong and second the right.

Netanyahu has lost his wits over Iran: Mofaz

The leader of the Israeli opposition party Kadima has blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his war rhetoric against Iran, saying the hawkish premier has “lost his wits”.

Netanyahu seemed “confused, stressed out and unfocused” over the issue of Iran, Mofaz added.
“The prime minister has lost the faith of the security chiefs, United States President [Barack] Obama, and [Israeli] President Shimon Peres,” said Mofaz. “This is a bankrupt leadership.”
He added that there is a direct relation between Tel Aviv’s bellicose rhetoric against Iran and the economic woes in Israel.
“You cannot put the country into the frenzy of war,” he said. “There is a direct correlation between the talk of war, the economic situation, and people’s despair.”
Recently, thousands of Israelis have held demonstrations in Tel Aviv, protesting against social inequality and the government’s austerity measures.
Israeli demonstrators, furious and concerned about a potential Israeli attack on Iran, have also been protesting against the warmongering policies of the Israeli regime in the recent months.

Mofaz also supported the remarks made earlier Sunday morning by former Israeli Supreme Court justice Eliyahu Winograd, who described the talk by Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak about an aggression on Iran as “extremely irresponsible.”
According to Mofaz, Winograd “joins a long list of people” who have expressed strong opposition to a possible Israeli strike against the Islamic Republic.
“Winograd’s primary arguments against an early strike have also been voiced by every head of the defense establishment, the president of the United States, and an ongoing stream of highly placed administration visitors” to Israel, Mofaz said.
The US, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program with Tel Aviv repeatedly threatening Tehran with a military strike.

Iran refutes the allegations and maintains that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a committed member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iranian officials have also promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country.
