Commander of IRGC Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi
A
senior Iranian commander says the United States is not capable of
military engagement with Iran in the Persian Gulf and this is why it has
resorted to sanctions.
“The reason why Americans have resorted to economic sanctions and mischief is that they cannot take advantage of military leverage. If the [global] Arrogance and the US could achieve their goals through military action, they would have certainly done that,” said Commander of Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi.
Fadavi stated that Iran's missile power has greatly increased compared to the past and what US knows about Iran's missile capacities is much less than what it doesn’t know.“The reason why the US has put its full force in oil and economic sanctions is that a military option against the Islamic Republic of Iran will be of no avail to them,” Fars News Agency quoted the commander as saying on Saturday.
Fadavi further noted that the US and the Zionist regime of Israel have had bitter experiences of 33-day war [with the Lebanese Hezbollah] as well as wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Over the past years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
On June 15, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the Islamic Republic’s naval forces will firmly counter any threat and deal with insecurity single-handedly.
Tehran has repeatedly clarified that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
